Computer recycle organization
Scenario: An organization that takes in discarded electronic equipment and reuses it to provide it for free to people who can’t afford to buy it and volunteer time at the organization. Equipment that can’t be reused is responsibly recycled. The organization brings in enough earned income to cover its ongoing operating expenses, but needs to recruit more volunteers. Specifically, it needs to add two board members (it could really use a lawyer with nonprofit expertise and someone with connections to the high tech industry) and recruit 50 volunteers able to volunteer 50 hours each. They want to target people who can't afford to buy a computer so they can learn computer (job?) skills while they volunteer to rebuild computers.
Assignment: Identify strategies to recruit two awesome board members with desired credentials and recruit 50 volunteers who can' afford to buy a computer who can contribute 50 hours each in the computer rebuilding program. Show how social media tools will enhance the plan.
Example Organizations: Free Geek, Recycles.org, The On It Foundation, Next Step Recycling
